Generals Cruise Past Eastern Mennonite, 86-62

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's basketball team shot 60.3 percent from the floor en route to winning its 10th game in a season for the first time since 1997-98 with a 86-62 ODAC-victory over Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday evening.

The Generals (10-5, 5-4) led from the start and connected on 19-of-30 (.633) of their shots in the first half to take a 45-25 lead into the break and EMU never challenged in the second half as W&L pulled away for the 24-point win.

The Blue and White hit 35-of-58 (.603) of their shots from the field and out-rebounded the Royals, 37-26.

Washington and Lee was paced by junior forward Femi Kusimo (Cross Lanes, W.Va./Charleston Catholic), who tallied a career-high 23 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Kirk Jones (Maple Glenn, Pa./Germantown Academy) tied a season-high with 14 points, while junior forward Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) added 13 points in just 17 minutes, as he fouled out in the second half. Senior guard Chris Halkitis (New Port Richey, Fla./Ridgewood) and sophomore guard Chris McHugh (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) both registered career-highs in assists. Halkitis notched 11 assists to go with five points and five boards, while McHugh racked up eight assists and nine points.

EMU was led by Jason Sager's 18 points and Austin Twine, who accounted for 15 markers.

The Generals return to action on Saturday when they host Roanoke at 7 pm in the Warner Center.
