LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore attacker Christine Bender (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) scored two goals and notched a career-high four assists to help lead the 11th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team to its seventh straight win with a 21-5 victory over Guilford in ODAC action on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (12-3, 7-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead just 3:49 into the game en route to a 12-1 halftime advantage. In the second half, W&L notched eight of the first nine goals to grab its largest advantage of the game at 20-2 with 6:24 remaining in the contest. Guilford freshman midfielder Carolyn Rodda (Bethesda, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) tallied two of the last four goals to make the final margin 21-5.
W&L freshman attacker Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) had three goals and an assist, while senior attacker Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) and junior midfielder Mallory Lobisser (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Lakeside) both tallied three goals. Junior attacker Avery Lovejoy (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) had two goals and an assist, while senior attacker Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) recorded one goal and three assists. The trio of sophomore Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and freshmen Ali Hillyard (Media, Pa./Episcopal) and Erin Coltrera (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) combined to stop five shots between the posts.
Rodda led the Quakers (5-10, 3-5) with the two goals, while the goalkeeping duo of junior Billie Pellerito (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) and freshman G. DeCherney (Wilmington, Del./Charter School Wilmington) each played one half and combined to make three saves.
The Generals return to the field on Saturday when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a 2:00 pm contest.
