W&L Women’s Basketball Upends Mary Baldwin, 69-62

STAUNTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Generals past Mary Baldwin, 69-62, in non-conference women's basketball action on Thursday evening in Staunton, Va.

The Generals (6-11) led just 30-29 at the break, but started the second half on an 11-3 run to assume a 41-32 lead with 15:57 remaining in the game. The Fighting Squirrels rebounded to knot the game at 45-45 with 11:52 left, but a 13-5 W&L run gave the Generals a 58-50 advantage with 8:04 remaining. MBC sliced the lead to 59-56 with 4:10 remaining, but could get no closer.

Junior center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) totaled 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, and is now just three points shy of 1,000 for her career. Sophomore forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) chipped in 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Generals.

Mary Baldwin (5-12) was paced by sophomore guard Jessica Carter's 29 points. Senior forward Rayna Henry added eight points and a game-high 16 rebounds.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Roanoke College for a 5:00 pm contest.
