W&L Women's Lacrosse Falls to the College of New Jersey, 12-8

EWING, N.J. – Junior midfielder Lauren Dougher scored four goals and added an assist to help lead fifth-ranked College of New Jersey to a 12-8 win over 13th-ranked Washington and Lee in women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon in Ewing, N.J.

With the game tied at 1-1 with 27:48 remaining in the first half, the Lions (8-2) went on a 6-0 run over the next 13:57 to take a 7-1 lead at the 13:51 mark. Dougher scored three goals and senior midfielder Lauren Gossner added two goals and an assist during the spurt. W&L made it 7-2 at the 13:28 mark when sophomore midfielder Mallory Lobisser (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Lakeside) scored off a feed from junior midfielder Rachel Wallick (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep). However, TCNJ tallied the next two goals to take a 9-2 advantage into halftime.

The Generals (12-3) trailed 10-2 with 27:36 left in the second half, but scored four straight goals over the next 8:07 to cut the deficit to 10-6 with 19:29 left. Sophomore midfielder Kelly Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County), junior defender Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill), junior midfielder Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) and senior midfielder Erin Rathbone (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) each notched a goal during the run.

The Lions responded with the next two goals to go back up by six at 12-6 with 7:06 left. Junior attacker Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and Lobisser scored the final two W&L goals to make the final score 12-8.

Strickler led the Generals with two goals and one assist, while Lobisser tallied two goals. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) made 10 saves.

Dougher was aided by junior midfielder Bridget Bigley, who also scored four goals. Gossner finished with three goals and an assist, while junior goalkeeper Megan Marquardt stopped three shots.

The Generals return to the field on Saturday in the ODAC Tournament semifinals at Watt Field. The opponent and time are still to be determined.
