BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Junior first baseman Taylor McConnell (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) smacked a three-run double in the fifth inning to give Washington and Lee a 7-6 lead en route to an 11-8 victory over Bridgewater in ODAC baseball action on Thursday afternoon in Bridgewater, Va.

The Generals (21-4, 8-2) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a three-run homerun by senior third baseman Adam Bullock (Alexandria, Va./Gonzaga). The Eagles (10-9-1, 3-2) responded by plating four runs in the bottom of the inning, two coming on a single by junior center fielder Zach Foltz, to take a 4-3 advantage.

Bridgewater held a 6-4 lead entering the fifth inning, but W&L scored five runs in the frame to take a 9-6 advantage that it wouldn't relinquish for the remainder of the game. With one out and the bases loaded, McConnell doubled to bring home all three runners and give the Generals a 7-6 lead.

W&L scored its final two runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles by sophomore second baseman David Miller (Oak Hill, Va./Oak Hill) and junior shortstop Scott Gosselink (Austin, Texas/St. Stephen's Episcopal).

The Eagles got single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to make the final score 11-8.

On the mound, freshman left hander John Parker (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence) allowed seven runs, only five earned, on 10 hits with two strikeouts in six innings to pick up the win (3-0).
