LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Junior midfielder Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) scored five first-half goals en route to Washington and Lee posting a 10-0 halftime lead in a 14-1 win over Lynchburg College in ODAC women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.
The Generals (4-1, 1-0 ODAC), ranked 16th in Division III, stretched their lead to 12-0 before the Hornets got on the board with a goal by Rachel Bauer off an assist by Nichole Locher at the 23:02 mark of the second half.
Junior attacker Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) supplemented Lester's five-goal performance by tallying three goals. Senior midfielder Natalya Hoobchaak (Barrington, Ill./Loyola Academy) and sophomore attackers Avery Lovejoy (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) and Kelly Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) each added one goal and one assist. Freshman Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) played a majority of the minutes in goal, recording six saves.
Ji-Young Eun played the opening 54:10 in goal for the Hornets (2-1, 0-1 ODAC), notching seven saves and allowing 13 goals.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Guilford College for a 4:00 pm contest.
