W&L Baseball Sweeps Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va. -- The Washington and Lee baseball team ran its winning streak to 14 games with a double header sweep of Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va. The Generals won the first game, 11-2, and captured the second game by a score of 22-1.

In game one, W&L (16-2, 4-0) sophomore right hander Clayton Edwards (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) pitched his third complete game to earn the win and improve to 4-1 on the season. Junior first baseman Taylor McConnell (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) went 2-for-3 with a grand slam homerun, while senior catcher Zach Bausch (Vienna, Va./McLean) batted 3-for-4.

In game two, Bausch went 3-for-4 with a home run, while sophomore right fielder Richard Garland (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington Heights) batted 2-for-4. On the mound, sophomore left hander Johnson Brownlow (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb) pitched seven innings to pick up the victory and remain perfect on the season at 3-0.

With the pair of losses, the Yellow Jackets fell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the ODAC.

W&L returns to the diamond tomorrow when it hosts Hampden-Sydney in a double header. The first game starts at 12:00 pm.
