LEXINGTON, Va. – Thirteenth-ranked Washington and Lee picked up its second ODAC victory as the Generals defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 12-8, in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.
Washington and Lee (3-1, 2-0) held a narrow, 6-5, advantage at halftime but outscored the Marlins (0-1, 0-1), 6-3, in the second half to earn the victory.
Senior midfielder Lee Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) led the Generals with four goals and an assist, while sophomore midfielder Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) added four goals in the winning effort.
Senior Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) recorded eight saves in goal for the Generals.
Washington and Lee outshot Virginina Wesleyan, 27-26, while the Marlins held a 19-14 advantage in ground balls.
The Generals return to action on Wed. when they host Sweet Briar for an 4:00 p.m. game.
