W&L Women's Lacrosse Downs Guilford, 18-3

LEXINGTON, Pa. – Tenth-ranked Washington and Lee scored 16 first-half goals en route to an 18-3 victory over Guilford in ODAC women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Generals (6-1, 4-0) scored 13 straight goals to open the contest in building a 16-1 advantage at halftime. Senior midfielder Lee Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) led W&L with three goals and three assists, recording all six points in the game's opening 10:07. Sophomore midfielder Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) and freshman midfielder Lane Earnest (Preston, Md./Easton) also tallied three goals each.

Senior attacker Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle), junior midfielder Erin Rathbone (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) and freshman midfielder Karina Schless (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) each added two goals in the win. Freshman Laura Hornbuckle (Houston, Texas/St. John's) recorded one save in the Generals' goal for her first career win.

Junior attacker Sarah Routhier (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greeley) netted the hat-trick for the Quakers (1-3, 0-2), while freshman midfielder Kathryn Hyde (Pownal, Maine/Waynflete School) dished out three assists. Senior Brandi Rhoads (Walnut Creek, Calif./Las Lomas) made 16 saves in the Guilford goal.

The Generals return to action on Saturday when they host eighth-ranked Mary Washington for a 1:30 p.m. game.
