EWING, N.J. – Washington and Lee senior attacker Leslie Bogart (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) scored three goals and tied the school career scoring record (230 pts.), but it was not enough as Mary Washington defeated the Generals, 12-7, in the NCAA Tournament.
Bogart's career total tied the mark held by Lisa Dowling since the 1993 season. She ends her career with 94 goals and a school-record 136 assists.
After Bogart opened the scoring with 21:42 remaining in the first half, the Eagles (11-5) ripped off four straight goals for a 4-1 lead with 12:00 remaining in the half. The Generals (15-3) pulled to within 4-3 with 7:10 left in the period, but MWC scored the game's next five goals to assume a commanding 9-3 lead with 24:23 remaining in claiming the win.
Junior attacker Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) supplemented Bogart's effort with two goals and one assist. Junior Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) recorded 12 saves in goal.
Mary Washington was paced by Kami McNinch, who scored four goals and assisted on another. Britt Gottlieb added three goals for the Eagles. Robyn Lankford made nine saves in goal.
