LEXINGTON, Va. -- The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team held a 45-4 advantage in shots and defeated Bridgewater, 18-0, on Wednesday afternoon on the Liberty Hall Fields.
The Generals (8-1, 4-0 ODAC) jumped out to a 13-0 lead at the half and coasted to their eighth consecutive win. In addition to its advantage in shots, W&L edged the Eagles (1-8, 1-4 ODAC) in ground balls (37-25) and forced them into 25 turnovers.
Senior attacker Leslie Bogart (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) was the game's high scorer, totaling five points on one goal and four assists. Sophomore midfielders Natalya Hoobchaak (Barrington, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Erin Rathbone (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) each added four points. In sum, 13 different Generals scored goals.
W&L junior netminder Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) turned back all four Bridgewater shots in recording the shutout.
Sophomores Kristi Martin (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) and Wendy Petryszak (Glen Burnie, Md./Valley Academy) each logged 30 minutes in the Eagles' net, combining to make 12 saves.
The Generals will now break for exams. Their next game is on Sun., Apr. 13, when they host Randolph-Macon at 1:30 pm.
