GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Nine members of the 14th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team scored goals as the Generals won their ODAC-opener, 20-4, over Guilford on Tuesday in Greensboro, N.C.
W&L, which upped its mark to 1-1 overall, 1-0 in the ODAC, outshot the Quakers 34-6 for the game.
W&L junior midfielder Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) was the game's high-scorer, tallying eight points on four goals and four assists. Position- and classmate Lee Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) had four goals and two assists, while freshman midfielder Rachel Wallick (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) had four goals and one assist. In total, 12 different players recorded at least one point.
Pacing the Quakers were Sarah Routhier (three goals) and Lauren Goodwin (one goal).
In net, W&L juniors Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) and Annie Tompkins (Houston, Texas/Kincaid) played 40 and 20 minutes each, combining to make one save. Lauren Kennedy turned back six shots for the Quakers.
W&L returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Goucher for a non-conference tilt scheduled to get underway at 1:00 pm.
