ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) scored a season-high 26 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the Generals past St. Mary's, 73-54, in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
Michaels scored six of her points on a pair of three-pointers that ignited a 12-2 W&L run to close the first half, giving the Generals a 34-25 halftime edge that they would not relinquish.
For the game, Michaels canned 5-of-8 three-point attempts and had three assists. Sophomore guard Louisa Feve (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) scored a season-high 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists to compliment Michaels' effort. Freshman forward Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./The Orme School) added 10 points and eight rebounds.
St. Mary's (1-4) was led by Megan Baskins, who scored 22 points. Katie Greenberg and Amanda Polidoro both recorded 11 points.
With the win, W&L matched its win total from all of last season. The Generals are now 3-3 overall on the season and will return to action on Tuesday as they host Southern Virginia for a 7:00 pm contest.
