CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Citadel used a 10-0 run to start the game and held Washington and Lee to just 13 points in the second half as the Bulldogs defeated the Generals, 62-44, in men's basketball action on Tuesday evening.
Washington and Lee (0-3) fought back from their 10-point game opening deficit to within 36-31 at the half, but the Generals would get no closer.
Sophomore forward David Will (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) led W&L with 12 points while freshman guard Chris Halkitis (New Port Richey, Fla./Ridgewood) added 10 points, a co-game-high four assists and three steals.
The Citadel (2-0) was led by J'mel Everhart's game-high 16 points and double-double by Max Mombollet, coming on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday when the Generals host Drew. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
