W&L Men's Basketball Edged at McDaniel, 69-66

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- McDaniel guard Bryant Dull hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining to break a 66-66 tie and lift the Green Terror to a 69-66 non-conference win over the Washington and Lee men's basketball team on Tuesday evening in Westminster, Md.

The Generals (5-11) took a 63-60 lead with 5:47 left to play but managed only three points the rest of the way as McDaniel improved to 5-13 on the season.

The Generals established a 42-37 lead at the half after hitting on 53.3 percent of their shots from the field. However, they made just 28.6 percent of their second-half offerings.

W&L counterbalanced its 40-28 advantage on the boards with 23 turnovers.

Senior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon) scored a game- and season-high 23 points, including 11-of-12 shooting from the free throw line, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Generals. Junior guard Michael Denbow (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) totaled a career-high 13 points, while sophomore guard Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) added 11.

McDaniel was paced by a trio of 13-point scorers. Seniors Adam Hynes (forward) and Jon Pearson (center), along with junior forward Alan Hoyt each tallied a baker's dozen in the win.

The Generals are on the hardwood again tomorrow night when they host ODAC-rival Bridgewater for a 7:00 pm contest.
