LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's basketball team used a 20-6 run over the final 4:31 of the first half and the first 6:04 of the second half en route to a 68-51 win over Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.
With the game tied at 20-20 with 4:31 left in the first, sophomore guard Ian McClure (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) scored the Generals' final eight points, on two three-pointers and two free throws, to start the run and give W&L (5-6, 2-4 ODAC) a 28-22 halftime advantage.
The Generals won their second straight game by stroking 45.5 percent of their shots from the field (25-of-55), compared to 36.5 percent (19-of-52) for the Hornets (5-9, 2-5 ODAC).
McClure led four Generals in double-digits with 17 points. Freshman forward David Will (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) added 14 points, while sophomore guard Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) and senior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon) finished with 13 and 12, respectively.
Dedrick Craft and Matthew Sweeney, with 10 points apiece, were the lone Lynchburg players to reach double figures.
W&L returns to the hardwood tomorrow afternoon (2:00 pm) when it plays at No. 4 Hampden-Sydney.
