DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson College made a school-record 19 three-pointers (19-of-28) and defeated the Washington and Lee men's basketball team, 105-48, on Saturday afternoon in Davidson, N.C.
Leading 29-17 with 9:28 to play in the first half, the Division I Wildcats (2-1) went on an 18-0 run to open up a 47-17 advantage with 2:30 remaining before halftime.
Davidson forced the Generals (2-1) into 20 turnovers and shot 61.1 percent from the field.
Peter Anderer led the Wildcats, scoring a game-high 22 points while shooting 6-of-8 from behind the arc. Ian Johnson and Matt McKillop contributed 17 and 16 points, respectively.
W&L, which outrebounded the Wildcats (32-30) and connected upon 15-of-16 free throws, was led by senior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon), who tallied a team-high 12 points. Junior forward Hamill Jones (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) and sophomore guard Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) each added eight points. Jones also collected five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
The Generals will be back on the court Monday evening when they host Southern Virginia for an 8:30 pm game.
