LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Washington and Lee rallied from a 7-3 second-half deficit, scoring five unanswered goals in defeating Lynchburg 8-7 in overtime on Thursday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va. The win gives W&L the regular season ODAC Championship.

Senior attacker Liz Borges (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) tied the game for W&L with 1:31 left in regulation and then scored the eventual game-winner with 31 seconds remaining in the first overtime period. She finished the day with three goals and one assist.

W&L staked claim to a 3-0 lead with 14:29 to play in the first half before Lynchburg (8-7, 5-2) stormed back with seven unanswered goals to take a 7-3 lead with 17:50 left in the game.

Freshman midfielder Lee Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) brought the Generals to within three with her second goal of the contest just 32 seconds later. Junior midfielder Courtenay Fisher (Baltimore, Md./Garrison Forest) closed the gap to 7-5 at the 11:02 mark and senior attacker Ellen Ritsch (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) found the net for the second time in the game at the 3:50 mark and the Generals trailed, 7-6. Borges then provided the heroics in the closing minutes to give W&L the one-goal win.

Freshman goalie Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) kept Washington and Lee alive throughout the game in making 12 saves.

LC was led by Linda Jack who totaled a game-high five points with three goals and two assists.

The Generals (11-2, 8-0) return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Washington College (Md.) at 1:00 pm.
