W&L Cruises Past Guilford, 17-6

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Washington and Lee, ranked No. 20 in Division III, stormed out to an 11-0 halftime lead and defeated Guilford, 17-6, in ODAC women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C.

The Generals (4-1, 3-0 ODAC) jumped on the Quakers from the opening draw as W&L scored six goals in the first 10:35 of the first half. Senior attacker Liz Borges (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) tallied three goals and added one assist and junior attacker Emily Owens (Waco, Texas/Episcopal) notched two goals during the stretch. Owens also added a goal at the 8:17 mark of the first half to complete the hat trick.

Sophomore attacker Leslie Bogart (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) accumulated six points on the day (1 goal, 5 assists) and 10 different Generals tallied scores in the 11-goal victory.

In addition, sophomore attacker Laura Wilson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) and freshman midfielders Sara Jurkowsky (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) all notched two goals.

Freshman goalie Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) made six saves in the net for Washington and Lee. The Generals out-shot the Guilford (1-3, 0-2 ODAC), 30-18.

W&L returns to action on Saturday afternoon as it will host Virginia Wesleyan at the Liberty Hall Fields at 1:00 pm.
