Hornets Hold Off W&L, 3-2

WINCHESTER, Va. -- The Shenandoah University baseball team defeated Washington and Lee by a score of 3-2 on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference matchup in Winchester, Va.

W&L senior lefthander Chris Stakem (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) suffered his third loss of the season on the mound (2-3) despite hurling a complete-game seven-hitter. Stakem walked only two Hornet batters while striking out four. Securing the win for SU (24-8) was Adrian Johnson, who hurled six innings while allowing only one run on three W&L hits.

At the plate, W&L (15-12) was led by senior centerfielder John Ezbiansky (Old Forge, Pa./Scranton Prep), who hammered out two hits in four at-bats and scored both of the Generals' runs. The Hornets were paced by Geoff Williams and Jeremy Schutt, each of whom garnered two hits in the contest.

The Generals will return to action on Saturday, April 15th, when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a 12:00 pm Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader.
