W&L Outslugs Villa Julie, 15-8

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman leftfielder Bobby Littlehale (Villa Park, Ill./Willowbrook) went 4-for-5 and scored three runs in leading the Washington and Lee baseball team to a 15-8 non-conference win over Villa Julie on Wednesday afternoon.

The Generals (7-6) jumped ahead early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning off Mustangs starter Mike Williams (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville), who retired only one batter before being pulled. W&L's largest lead of the contest came at 12-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning. VJC (1-2) rallied for five runs in the final two innings, but could never bring the margin below six runs. Freshman righthander Michael Hanson (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy) hurled six strong innings to move to 3-1 on the mound for the Generals.

Senior shortstop David Hanson (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy) banged out three hits in five at-bats while driving in three runs for W&L. Senior rightfielder Schuyler Marshall (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) added two hits, two runs scored, and two RBI. Freshman catcher Andrew Welling (Parkville, Md./Archbishop Curley) led the Mustangs, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.

W&L will return to action on Saturday, when it plays host to Guilford College in a 12:00 pm Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader.
