LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee gave up five unearned runs in the third inning (six total), but didn't allow another run for the rest of the game in defeating Eastern Mennonite, 7-6, in ODAC baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.

After falling behind 6-0 in the third inning, the Generals (12-7, 4-4) rallied for six runs of their own in the fourth inning to knot the score at 6-6. Spearheading the comeback was senior second baseman Patrick Hall (Houston, Texas/Episcopal), who crushed a three-run homer to right field to tie the game.

Both teams would go scoreless until the eighth inning, when junior designated hitter Andy Thompson (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) began the inning with a single and advanced to second on an error by sophomore rightfielder Joey Coleman (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale). He would later score the game-winning run on an error by EMU junior shortstop Jimmy Pollard (Charleston, S.C./Stratford) off the bat of sophomore centerfielder Casey Nixon (Pensacola, Fla./Woodberry).

Sophomore righthander David Sigler (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) went the distance to earn the win for W&L. He upped his record to 5-1 on the season by allowing just one earned run on nine hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks.

Hall led the Generals' offense, going 2-for-4 with his home run and three RBI. Junior leftfielder Schuyler Marshall (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) went 1-for- 4 with a double and two RBI.

Junior lefthander Tim Good (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) pitched 4 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the loss (1-4). He allowed just two hits and one earned run while striking out six batters.
