LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior second baseman Patrick Hall (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) set a new W&L record for career hits (126) by going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in helping lead Washington and Lee to a 13-4 win over Lynchburg (4-7, 0-1) in ODAC baseba ll action on Thursday afternoon.
Hall broke the former record of 123 career hits held by Chris Cavalline since the 1983 season.
The Generals (10-6, 2-3) opened the game with two runs in the first inning and six more in the third in cruising to the win. Junior designated hitter Andy Thompson (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) posted his first career four-hit game by going 4- for-5 with two doubles and an RBI and senior catcher E.J. Murphy (Glenside, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) continued his hot streak at the plate by going 4-for-6 with three doubles and two RBI.
Sophomore righthander David Sigler (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) went the distance for W&L, allowing four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and two walks. He is now 4-1 on the season.
