Generals Pick Up First ODAC Win With A 12-3 Thumping Of Sydney

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior right hander Bob Weston (Columbia, S.C./Woodberry Forest) pitched seven innings of three-hit ball and senior second baseman Patrick Hall (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored to help lead Washington and Le e past Hampden-Sydney, 12-3, in ODAC baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.

Hall's two hits tied him for the top spot on W&L's career hit list (123 hits) and Weston's win was his fifth of the season against just two losses.

The Generals took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but were tied in the third inning via two Tiger (2-9, 0-3) runs.

Both teams went scoreless in the fourth inning before W&L (9-6, 1-3) added two more in the sixth inning for a 4-2 lead. W&L would tack on five runs in the seventh inning and three more in the eighth to seal the win.

Senior catcher E.J. Murphy (Glenside, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and junior right fielder Christian Batcheller (Stuart, Va./Patrick County) drilled his third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth innin g.

Hampden-Sydney was led by left fielder Hayes Ludlum, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Vic Painter (0-3) picked up the loss for the Tigers.
