LEXINGTON, Va. – The sixth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team closed out its Old Dominion Athletic Conference schedule with a dominant 22-4 victory over the University of Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon at Alston Parker Watt Field.
The Generals (14-2, 8-0 ODAC) completed an unbeaten conference slate to secure the #1 seed in the ODAC Tournament. The perfect league season marks the program's 12th consecutive undefeated ODAC campaign and 12th straight No. 1 seed, with Washington and Lee unbeaten in conference play since April 20, 2013.
The Blue and White shut out Lynchburg in the second half, dropping the Hornets to 7-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
Game Summary
Washington and Lee took control early with four consecutive goals to start the game and never relinquished momentum, scoring eight first-quarter goals to build an immediate advantage. Lynchburg found early success behind a pair of first-quarter goals and added two more in the second, but W&L consistently responded to each Hornet tally and closed the half on a scoring surge.
Leading 15-4 at the break, W&L continued to separate in the second half, outscoring Lynchburg 7-0 over the final two quarters. The Generals' defense limited the Hornets to just three shots in the third period and none in the fourth, while controlling possession and dictating tempo throughout.
