3/4/2026 3:52:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee announced that Washington and Lee senior Maria Jellig has been invited to compete in the 200 backstroke at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.

Jellig earned the national selection following a standout performance at the 2026 ODAC Championships, where she played a key role in the conference team title and multiple podium finishes for the Generals.

She was part of three ODAC-champion relay teams, helping Washington and Lee open the championships with a win in the 800 freestyle relay alongside Gabby Clemens, Celia Bredehoeft and Marcy Mortimer in a time of 7:43.84. Jellig later contributed to the 200 medley relay victory with Morgan Smith, Peighton Kruzel and Amelia Maloof, touching first in 1:46.66, and helped close another finals session with a title in the 400 medley relay with Vivian Pickeral, Smith and Maloof in 3:52.43.

Individually, First Team All-ODAC honoree also produced strong finishes in several events. She placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:07.69) and the 100 butterfly (56.83). She also posted a time of 2:05.32 in the 200 backstroke, the event in which she will compete at the NCAA Championships.

The championships will be held March 18-21 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Franklin College, the Indiana Sports Corporation and the IU Natatorium will serve as hosts. A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete in the championships. Official psych sheets for the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will be announced by the NCAA in the coming weeks.
