2026 Men's Track & Field Outdoor Season Preview

LEXINGTON, Va. -  After a successful indoor season where they posted 15 top-five marks including five program record, the Washington and Lee University men's track and field team opens up the outdoor season this weekend at the W&L Carnival on Friday and Saturday. 

The Generals posted a second place finish at last year's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Championships, registering 113 points with 23 top-eight finishes and three individual champions.

2026 Outdoor Schedule Overview

The outdoor season begins this weekend as they Blue and White host the W&L Carnival on Mar. 20-21. The Generals will split up next weekend as members of the teams will compete at the NC State's Raleigh Relays on Thursday, Mar. 26 before the rest of the squad heads to Bridgewater College for the Doc Jopson Invite on the 27-28.

April kicks off with a trip to Williamsburg, Va. for the Colonial Relays on April 2-4 at William & Mary. The following week, the Blue and White will split up once again with members of the team heading to Harrisonburg for the James Madison Invite while others will make the trip to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell. During the final week of the regular season, members of the team will compete at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville (April 17th) while the rest of the squad heads to Newport News, Va. for the New Captains Classic at Christopher Newport on the 17-18.

Championship season begin on April 24-25 as they will compete at the ODAC Outdoor Championship at Eastern Mennonite University. Over the following weeks, the Generals will compete in a trio of final qualifiers including the Hill City Twilight at Lynchburg (May 1), the Liberty University Twilight (May 6) and the Widener Final Qualifier (May 11) with hopes of punching their ticket to the NCAA Outdoor National Championship in La Crosse, Wis. on May 21-23.
