Men’s Track & Field Posts Seven Top-Eight Finishes on Day one of W&L Carnival

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team posted seven top-eight finishes on the first day of the W&L Carnival on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • William Dunaway and Thomas Franklin finished in second and third, respectively, in the invited 5,000m after posting personal-best times. Dunaway earned silver after crossing the finish line in a time of 14:57.99, while Franklin posted a time of 15:01.18 to secure bronze. In the unseeded section of the 5,000m, Ethan Khouri clocked a time of 15:52.88 to finish in fourth place.
  • Davis Amare recorded a time of 4:04.87 in the invited 1,500m to finish in third place. John Daniels, Connor LaCour, Javan Hirwa, and DJ McDonough teamed up in the 4x400m relay this evening. The quartet clocked a time of 3:20.12 to finish in third place.
  • Mason Mandis and David Akinnubi rounded out the squad in the jumps on Friday. Mandis turned in a fifth-place finish in the long jump after leaping 6.62m (21'-08.75"), while Akinnubi finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.84m (6'-00.50").
PERSONAL BESTS TOP EIGHT FINISHERS UP NEXT
  • The second day of the W&L Carnival will kick off at 10 a.m. with the shot put while the 4x100m relay will start the events on the track at 12:35 p.m.
