LEXINGTON, Va. - The No. 4/5 Washington and Lee University women's basketball team scored a season-high in points in a 88-46 rout of Randolph College on Wednesday evening inside Holekamp Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Randolph (9-13, 3-10 ODAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two quick baskets to open the game before Quinn McGuinness and Mary Schleusner answered with layups to tie the score. A Pariz Minor jumper gave the WildCats a one-point advantage, but the Generals (22-0, 13-0 ODAC) quickly took control and never looked back, closing the first quarter on a 12-3 run. The scoring stretch featured baskets from Icy Keneah, Schleusner, Sam Collins, Riley Bryant, and McGuinness.
  • The Blue and White opened the second quarter with a 15-3 run to extend their lead to 20. Collins later knocked down a three-pointer with three minutes remaining, sparking a 13-3 run to send W&L into halftime with a commanding 47-20 advantage.
  • Out of the break, the Generals used a 14-2 run to push the margin to 37 points, highlighted by three-pointers from Elka Prechel and McGuinness. Back-to-back buckets from Schleusner extended the lead to 40 before Megan Zimmerman and Collins each connected from long range to send the Blue and White into the final quarter with a 72-29 lead.
  • After both teams traded baskets early in the fourth, a two-minute scoring drought followed until Katie Lawson knocked down a jumper to give the Generals a 46-point lead. Emily Straughn added a layup before Collins drilled her fourth three-pointer of the night to extend the advantage to 48. Randolph put together a 9-0 run over a two-minute stretch to trim the deficit, but Collins answered with her fifth triple of the evening to seal the 88-46 victory.
