Schleusner Named National Player of the Week, Selected to Team of the Week

LEXINGTON, Va. - Washington and Lee University women's basketball senior Mary Schleusner picked up a pair of national honors as she was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week while also being selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.

This marked the third time this season that she has earned recognition from both organizations. Schleusner had another dominant week, helping the sixth-ranked Generals remain undefeated on the season. She averaged 25.5 points per game on 20-of-40 shooting from the field while pulling down 24.5 rebounds per contest. She also added six blocks, three steals, and two assists in wins over Bridgewater and Guilford.


In a 63-57 victory over Bridgewater on Wednesday, Schleusner became the NCAA Division III all-time leading rebounder with 21 boards. She added 22 points on 10-of-23 shooting while registering three blocks, two steals, and one assist. She followed that performance by scoring 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting in an 81-78 win over Guilford on Saturday, while recording 28 rebounds. She also contributed three blocks, one steal, and one assist.


Schleusner and the Blue and White return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 28, as they take on Roanoke College at 6 p.m. for the Sock Society Game. Additionally, the first 150 students in attendance will receive a $15 gift card to Main Street Lexington as part of Student Appreciation Night.
