1/10/2026 7:46:00 PM

BALTIMORE, Md. — The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team totaled 101 points in a dual meet at No. 19-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Saturday afternoon at the Newton White Aquatic Center. The Blue Jays (6-1) earned the non-conference victory with 160 points, while the Generals (3-2) produced seven event wins against nationally ranked competition.

The highlight of the meet came from Celia Bredehoeft, who delivered a record-setting performance in the 1000-yard freestyle, while Maria Jellig and Morgan Smith combined for five additional event individual victories to lead W&L's effort.

Bredehoeft recorded a time of 10:22.93 in the distance event and bested Mattie Grant's '21  previous low-mark of 10:26.75 set on February 9, 2020 to etch her name in the league's record book.

Up Next: Washington and Lee returns home on Saturday, January 17, hosting a Senior Day tri-meet at the W&L Natatorium. The Generals will face Randolph-Macon College and Chowan University, with competition scheduled to begin at noon.
