FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Senior
Grace Lorenz and sophomore
Sarah Donnelly played their way to two wins in the Championship Doubles bracket to highlight the Washington and Lee women's tennis team's day one efforts at the 2025 ITA Southeast Region Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY 1:
- Playing as the No. 9 seed in the championship bracket, Donnelly and Lorenz earned a bye through the Round of 64, before defeating Sophie Capone and Natalia Chapa (Haverford) to advance to Sunday's Round of 16.
- Sophomores Jackie Daynovsky and Mary Kate Kahl paired in championship doubles, as well as senior Annie Jennings and sophomore Greer Webb. Both tandems won their Round of 64 matches, before falling in the Round of 32
- Six Generals were in action in the Championship Singles bracket, with Donnelly (9), Lorenz (5) and Jennings each winning their first matches. Each were then defeated in the Round of 32, with Lorenz forcing a third-set, 10-point tiebreak against Isabella Rotaru (UMW).
UP NEXT:
Donnelly and Lorenz will play in the Championship Doubles Round of 16 on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m., and they would also play the quarterfinal Sunday morning should they advance. Non-advancing Generals from Saturday's matches will also be in action in singles and doubles consolation and alternate brackets.
