McEwen Maintains Individual Lead as No. 1 W&L Moves to Fourth at ODAC Men’s Golf Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 1-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team moved up one spot on the leaderboard Tuesday, finishing the second round of the 2025 ODAC Men's Golf Championship in fourth place with a 36-hole total of 592 (+16) at Forest Oaks Country Club (Par 72, 6,985 yards).

The Generals shaved two strokes off their opening-round score, carding a 295 (+7) in round two after a 297 on Monday. W&L now sits behind No. 8 Lynchburg (+1, 577), No. 18 Hampden-Sydney (+12, 588), and No. 14 Guilford (+14, 590) heading into Tuesday's final round.

The course continued to challenge the field, with an average round score of 76.76 in Tuesday's play.

  • No. 8 Lynchburg – 287-290—577 (+1)
  • No. 18 Hampden-Sydney – 295-293—588 (+12)
  • No. 14 Guilford – 298-292—590 (+14)

Team Performance Highlights:

  • Par 3 Scoring: 2.98 avg. (-1) – Best in field
  • Par 4 Scoring: 4.42 avg. (+42) – Tied for 8th
  • Par 5 Scoring: 4.83 avg. (-7) – 4th overall
  • Total Birdies: 26 – 3rd most
  • Total Pars: 108
  • Fewest Bogeys: 33 – Fewest in the field
  • Double Bogey+ Holes: 12 – Tied for 3rd most

Individual Highlights:

  • Sophomore Jonathan McEwen remains atop the individual leaderboard after a steady even-par 72, giving him a two-round total of 137 (-7). He continues to lead the field in birdies (9) and ranks first in par 4 scoring (3.95 avg., -1) and par 5 scoring (4.38 avg., -5). He is also tied for the best par 3 scoring at 2.88.
  • First-year Charlie Krasnewich stayed consistent with a second straight 75 (+3) and sits tied for 20th at +6 (150). He's also tied for first in par 3 scoring (-1, 2.88 avg.).
  • Senior Will Braxton moved up six spots to T-27th after a second-round 75 (+3), putting him at +8 (152) overall.
  • First-year Timothy Kaufman made the biggest jump of the day for W&L, bouncing back with a 1-over 73 to move into T-31st at +9 (153) after opening with an 80. He is even-par on par 3s and -2 on par 5s.
  • Senior Elias Malakoff posted an 82 and sits in 50th place at +18 (162).

The Generals  return for the final round of the ODAC Championship on Wednesday  return for the final round of the ODAC Championship W&L will be grouped with Randolph-Macon and Averett, teeing off from Hole 1 at Forest Oaks at 8:30 a.m.
