2026 Men's Golf ODAC Championship Preview

AMHERST, Va. - The fifth-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team looks to hoist their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title since 2019 and their 17th overall at the 2026 ODAC Championship which begins on Sunday, April 18th at the Poplar Grove Golf Club.

The Blue and White enter the tournament as the top-ranked team nationally, backed by seven top-ten finishes and a pair of second place finishes at the Jekyll Island Collegiate and the Savannah Invitational. W&L leads a strong field that includes four teams in the top-50 of the Scoreboard by Clippd National Rankings. Lynchburg follows the Generals as the 17th-ranked team in Division III with Bridgewater sitting at No. 23. Hampden-Sydney (45th) and Shenandoah (48th) round out the other league schools in the top-50 while Averett is just outside at No. 53.

We’re excited to compete at Poplar Grove for the ODAC championship, it’s a great venue that tests every part of your game. We’ve had a really good spring season and look forward to continuing that play this weekend and hopefully onwards into the NCAA Championship.

THE GENERALS' LINEUP

W&L's lineup features a pair of golfer in the top-ten nationally including Jonathan McEwen, the No. 1-ranked Golfer in Division III. McEwen has posted a scoring average of 68.4 over 21 rounds this season while securing a pair of wins and six top-five finishes. Joining McEwen in the lineup is Tim Kaufman, Charlie Krasnewich, William Hull and Turner Edwards. As a squad, they have posted a 284.5 scoring average across 21 rounds with a 102-31-3 head-to-head record this season.

Jonathan McEwen

Junior Jonathan McEwen

McEwen, the No. 1-ranked Golfer in Division III, has had another standout season for the Blue and White with a pair of tournament wins at the Gate City Invite and the Savannah Invitational while holding a 708-20-13 head-to-head record. He tied program records in Low Round (64) and Low Round vs. Par (-8) while setting a new 54-hole total with a score of 14-under par at the Jekyll Island Collegiate.

Tim Kaufman

Sophomore Tim Kaufman

Kaufman, the ninth-ranked golfer in Division III, owns a 69.9 scoring average this season while compiling a 641-80-20 head-to-head record in his 21 rounds of action. He has posted three top-ten finishes this season including a tournament win, the first of his career, at the Capital City Classic after shooting four-under par.

Charlie Krasnewich

Sophomore Charlie Krasnewich

Krasnewich has had an impressive spring season for the Blue and White, turning in a pair of top ten finishes at the Tiger Invitational and the Jekyll Island Collegiate in back-to-back weekends. This season, he owns a 72.7 scoring average while holding a 391-330-20 record over his opponents.

William Hull

First-Year William Hull

Hull has been apart of the starting lineup for six of the team's seven tournaments this season with a top-30 finish at the Savannah Invitational finishing in 26th place. Hull has played two tournaments at three-over par, helping the Blue and White to their seven top-ten finishes. He has a scoring average of 74.5 across 20 rounds played this season.

Turner Edwards

Senior Turner Edwards

Edwards rounds out the lineup as a senior captain, he owns a 76.0 scoring average this season in 18 rounds played. He has played in six of the team's seven tournament this year while registering 25 birdies and 172 pars. 

Poplar Grove Golf Club | Amherst, Va. 

Poplar Grove Golf Club, the site of the 2026 conference championship, was designed by Sam Snead and Ed Carton and opened in 2005 in the Blue Ridge Mountains before being renovated in 2020, less than two decades after opening its tees to play. The course was ranked as the 17th-best course in the Commonwealth of Virginia by Golf Digest in May 2025 while ranking 25th by top100golfcourse.com. The tournament field will play a par 72 with a yardage of 7,082 yards with a pair of holes over 560 yards including Hole 3, a 570-yard Par 5, and Hole 6, a 564-yard Par 5.
