VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The ninth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday night, defeating Virginia Wesleyan, 21-1, in ODAC play at Birdsong Field.
The Generals (10-4, 7-0 ODAC) opened the game on a 7-0 first-quarter run and led 12-0 at halftime, marking their fourth game this season holding an opponent to one goal or fewer. W&L scored in bunches, using runs of 7-0, 5-0, and 4-0 while the defense held the Marlins (7-5, 3-2 ODAC) to just two total shots.
Game Summary
Brianna Benoit opened the scoring just 12 seconds into the game and finished with three goals and one assist, leading a group of 14 different goal scorers for W&L. The Generals poured in seven goals in the opening frame and never looked back, adding five more in the second and another five in the third before closing out the win with four fourth-quarter tallies.
