LEXINGTON, Va. – In celebration of their lone senior,
Meagan Donovan, the No. 13 Washington and Lee women's tennis team swept Oberlin, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Donovan contributed to two of the team points in the win, as she and first-year
Greer Webb teamed up for a 6-0 win over Scarlett Kingston and Eva Lopez at No. 3 doubles. Donovan later went on to nearly shut Hannah Soong out, as she posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Juniors
Lauren Long and
Grace Lorenz turned in the same score at No. 1 as Donovan and Webb to claim the doubles point, while first-years
Mary Kate Kahl and
Allie Murrell rolled to a 6-2 win over Rachel Allen and Freya Rahm at No. 2.
Kahl did not surrender a single game in her No. 5 singles win against Olivia Wollner. Murrell (2) and Donnelly (4) joined Donovan with only one lost game en route to straight-set wins, while Lorenz won by a 6-0, 6-2 margin against Rahm at No. 3. Long completed the 7-0 sweep of the Yeowomen on Saturday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 over Anna Pastore.
