WINCHESTER, Va. – The No. 13 Washington and Lee women's tennis team jumped back into the win column on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep against Shenandoah.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (6-4, 3-0 ODAC) dropped just four games total in doubles play, including a 6-0 win from junior
Riho Iijima and first-year
Sarah Donnelly at No. 2 and a 6-1 victory for junior
Jordan Kach and first-year
Jackie Daynovsky. Juniors
Grace Lorenz and
Annie Jennings completed the doubles sweep for the Blue and White with a 6-3 win over Tanea Spruill and Olivia Guzzo at No. 1.
Donnelly and Iijima went on to post shutouts in singles play at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, while Daynovsky had a near perfect 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5. Jennings won by a 6-1, 6-1 final at No. 3, and Lorenz topped Spruill 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1. Kach rounded out singles competition with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6.
