LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 13 Washington and Lee women's tennis team continued its strong play in ODAC competition on Thursday, posting a 7-0 win against Sweet Briar.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (7-4, 4-0 ODAC) took two of the three doubles matches, getting wins from first-years
Mary Kate Kahl and
Allie Murrell at No. 2 (6-0) and senior
Meagan Donovan and first-year
Greer Webb at No. 3 (6-2). While it did not result in a team point, the Vixens' (8-4, 4-1 ODAC) lone win of the day came at No. 1 thanks to Alexandra Guilarte and Ana Patino (6-4).
The Blue and White cruised through singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Junior
Lauren Long did not surrender a single game in a victory over Juli Caracciolo at No. 1, while junior
Annie Jennings dropped just one game against Guilarte at No. 3. Donovan won both of her sets, 6-1, at No. 6, Webb lost only three games at No. 5 and first-year
Jackie Daynovsky was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 4.
Rounding out the W&L team points on the day was Murrell, who picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Patino at No. 2.
