Schleusner earns two major ODAC awards, McGuinness joins on All-ODAC teams

2/27/2025 11:00:00 AM

FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2024-25 Women's Basketball all-conference teams and award winners on Thursday, and Washington and Lee junior Mary Schleusner highlighted the Generals' accolades.

For the second year in a row, Schleusner claimed both the Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards, which also makes her 3-for-3 in her career being named the league's top defender. Schleusner made her way onto the All-ODAC First Team, while junior Quinn McGuinness was selected to the All-ODAC Third Team.

Through 26 games this season, Schleusner leads the ODAC in both scoring (21.5) and rebounding (19.3) averages, while leading Division III women's basketball in rebounds per game. Schleusner also boasts 24 double-doubles this season, tied for the most in Division III, while ranking second in the ODAC and 11th in the nation in blocks per game with 2.8. In addition to her double-double totals, Schleusner has 11 20-point, 20-rebound games, five 25-25 games and her second career 30-30 game. Schleusner has also received national recognition throughout the season with four D3hoops.com Team of the Week selections and three U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Player of the Week honors.

Schleusner has also made her marks on the W&L women's basketball program record books this season, as she became the program's all-time leading rebounder on December 29 and, more recently, topped the ODAC's career rebounding leaderboard on February 25. With 87 games played in her career, Schleusner needs just one more block to set the program career blocks record and five more points to become the program's all-time leading scorer.

McGuinness claims her first career All-ODAC citation after posting single-season career highs across multiple statistical categories. She has scored 9.8 points per game while starting all 26 games so far this season, 1.9 points per game higher than last season's average, while adding 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. McGuinness's assist average leads the Generals and ranks 10th in the ODAC, and she has been the team's second-leading scorer and third-leading rebounder, while also providing the second-most steals on the team (35).

Randolph's Kylie Stark collected the ODAC/Va. Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, Roanoke's Paige Breuer was selected as the Rookie of the Year, and Randolph-Macon head coach Lindsey Burke-Eberhart was tabbed Coach of the Year.
