Women’s Swimming Secures Five Titles, Extends Lead at ODAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team swept all five events this evening to extend their lead on the second day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White swept the podium this evening, securing five first place finishes to extend their lead to 131.5 points. The Generals have won all six events so far, boasting 313 team points.
  • Vivian Pickeral, Bella Tarbet, Myla Rice, and Amelia Maloof opened the second day's finals with a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The squad posted an NCAA B-cut time of 1:34.65 to secure the first relay title of the day for the Blue and White.
  • The Generals had four student-athletes qualify for the 500 freestyle finals, with Celia Bredehoeft leading the way, finishing first with a time of 5:08.28—the ninth-fastest time in program history. Katelyn Crawford claimed fourth place with a time of 5:12.14, while Riley Moorman (5:15.31) and Schuyler Ross (5:17.38) secured sixth and eighth place, respectively.
  • Jellig captured the 200 individual medley title with a time of 2:06.68, the fourth-fastest mark in program history. Marcy Mortimer finished third in 2:09.10, the eighth-fastest time in program history, while Clara Attar followed closely in fourth, also clocking 2:09.13 for the ninth-fastest time in school history. Haley Robinson (2:09.71) and Paige McBoyle (2:11.15) rounded out the event, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
  • In the 50 freestyle, Bella Tarbet claimed her first career conference title, touching the wall in 23.58 seconds—the second-fastest time in program history. Her mark also dipped under the NCAA B-cut standard by one-tenth of a second. Myla Rice rounded out the individual events for the Blue and White with a fifth-place finish, clocking in at 24.51 seconds.
  • Jellig, Attar, Tarbet, and Rice capped off the first full day of action with a victory in the 400 medley relay, posting a winning time of 3:52.35 to secure the team's fifth title of the day.
