HAMPTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team concluded competition at the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jacket Invitational on Sunday evening at the Hampton Aquaplex, finishing second overall with 1,157 team points.
Salisbury claimed the team title with 1,320 points, while Catholic placed third with 586.5.
The Generals capped the three-day meet with a strong closing session, earning five top-three finishes and one individual victory.
Maria Jellig led the way with a win in the 200-yard backstroke, while
Celia Bredehoeft,
Amelia Maloof, and
Peighton Kruzel each secured runner-up or podium finishes fourth or better seal W&L's team standing.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday, January 10, competing in the Johns Hopkins Tri-Meet in Baltimore, Md., against No. 14 Johns Hopkins University and The College of New Jersey. Competition begins at 1 p.m.
