Marek, Bourque and Steinberg Lead W&L Equestrian to Third-Place Finish at Lynchburg

RUSTBURG, Va. — The Washington and Lee University equestrian team earned a third-place finish at the University of Lynchburg IHSA Show on Sunday in Rustburg, Virginia.

The Generals totaled 33 points after the drop and recorded multiple top-three class finishes to close out the opening weekend of the fall season.

W&L was led by Elisabeth Marek, who won Open Flat Section A, Samantha Bourque, who claimed Intermediate Fences Section B, and Grace Steinberg, who took first in the Pre-Novice Class. The Generals also received additional scoring contributions from riders across the Intermediate and Limit classes. The host University of Lynchburg secured the team title with 43 points, followed by Hollins (40) and W&L (33).
