No. 15 Generals claim 15th consecutive ODAC win at Bridgewater

LEXINGTON, Va. – First-year Mary Parrish Green assisted on both goals once again to propel the No. 15 Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 2-0 win at Bridgewater on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Generals (7-2-1, 3-0-0 ODAC) opened the scoring in the fifth minute off the foot of junior Amelia Manke. Green lined up a corner kick with her left foot and swung the cross into the box. The ball was met at the front post by Manke who got the ball past the keeper for the 1-0 lead.
  • The 1-0 advantage held until the 84th minute when Green put another corner kick into the box. Sophomore Elizabeth Zimmerman re-directed the ball back to the near post, where senior Helen Otteni booted the ball into the back of the net.
  • The Eagles (7-3, 1-2 ODAC) mustered four shots on goal, but three came in the second half. W&L sophomore Kate McEnroe stood strong though with saves in the 68th minute and back-to-back stops in the 86th minute.
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Green logged her second straight game with two assists, and she has now assisted on four consecutive W&L goals.
  • Manke netted her second goal of the season to give the Generals the initial lead, while Otteni's late score was her third of the year. Zimmerman picked up her team-best fifth assist of the year on the Otteni goal.
  • Bridgewater's Lyric Birkley was the leader on the day in both shots (5) and attempts on goal (3).
  • McEnroe's four saves in the 90 minutes of action proved enough for her third clean sheet of the season and the team's fifth of 2025.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • With Wednesday's win, the Generals extended their regular season ODAC win streak to 15 games.
TEAM STATS:
  • The Generals outshot the Eagles by a final count of 14-10, including 8-4 in the second half.
