The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team fell in a tightly contested dual against No. 10 Johns Hopkins

Women’s Swimming Rolls Past Randolph-Macon, 166-95

ASHLAND, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's swimming won twelve events en route to a 166-95 win against Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White won 12 of the events this afternoon to improve to 4-3 on the season while picking up their second conference win. 
  • Maria Jellig, Bella Tarbet and Clara Attar each posted a pair of wins for the Blue and White this afternoon. Jellig won both backstroke events this afternoon, posting a time of 1:00.66 to win the 100 backstroke before clocking in a time of 2:08.54 in the 200 backstroke.
  • Tarbet picked up wins in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. She clocked in a time of 24.66s to secure a top finish in the 50 free before posting a winning time of 58.83s in the 100 butterfly. Attar's two wins came in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley. She posted a winning time of 1:07.71 in the 100 breaststroke before claiming gold in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.97.
  • Celia Bredehoeft and Katelyn Crawford swept the distance events this afternoon. Bredehoeft posted a time of 10:54.53 to secure a top finish in the 1000 freestyle while Crawford clocked in a time of 5:23.74 to claim gold in the 500 freestyle.
  • Ruth Crane secured a top finish in the 200 freestyle after posting a winning time of 2:02.26. Morgan Smith posted a time of 2:16.95 to claim the top spot in the 200 butterfly. 
  • The Blue and White's final two wins came in the 100 freestyle and 200 breaststroke. Tenra Adams claimed gold in the 100 freestyle, clocking in a time of 55.83s while Paige McBoyle posted a time of 2:31.96 to win the 200 breaststroke and secure the win for the Generals.

  • The Blue and White are back in action next Saturday as they honor their senior members before hosting the Virginia Military Institute at 1 p.m.
