Box Score REDLANDS, Calif. – The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team opened its west coast trip on Wednesday, but suffered its first loss of the season, 4-1, against No. 22 Redlands.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Playing under Division I format, the Generals (9-1) and Bulldogs (3-0) needed the top singles spot to decide which side would claim the doubles team point, after splitting decisions at Nos. 2 and 3. Senior Gabi Moss and sophomore Lauren Long were matched up against Maegan Deng and Gabby Rockwood, and the match was pushed into a tiebreak. The breaker was pushed all the way to 24 total points, with Moss and Long edging the Redlands duo, 13-11.

The Bulldogs recovered in singles play, however, with wins at Nos. 1, 3, 4 and 5 to end the match. At the time of the match's conclusion, Moss was up a set at No. 2 over Kiana Brady, and first-year Haley Stoltz had a one-set lead over Deja Brown at No. 6.

NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
The Generals' loss snapped the team's nine-match winning streak to open the season. It was the team's longest unbeaten start to a season since the 2007-08 team opened 28-0.
