No. 25 Women's Tennis Wraps up Weekend with 9-0 Win Over No. 20 Denison

Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team wrapped up the third and final day of the W&L Invitational with a 9-0 win over No. 20 Denison on Sunday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals swept the doubles with scores of 8-5, 8-5, and 8-3. The pairs finished in order with the top duo of Gabi Moss and Lauren Long taking down Caroline Lopez and Dasha Chistyakova in the #1 doubles matchup, 8-5. 

Grace Lorenz and Margaret Carlton defeated Peyton Oda and Maia Nowicki with the same score in the #2 position. In the final doubles match, Annie Jennings and Izzy Koziol won with an 8-3 score over Caroline Kittle and Ariana Fernanda Rodriguez.

Following a 3-0 lead after the doubles were completed, Lorenz was the first singles player to win at the #3 position; Lorenz took down Kittle with a 6-0 and 6-3 scorecard. 

Next, Long defeated Oda at the top singles position with a pair of 6-1 scores to secure a team win for the Blue and White. 

In the #2 singles slot, Annie Jennings played to a perfect 6-0 then scored a 6-4 second set to defeat Chistyakova.

At the four spot, Carlton won in a 10-point tie-breaker in the third set, 10-7, over Lopez to win the match and give W&L its seventh point of the afternoon.  Koziol and Riho Iljima each won in two sets at the #5 and #6 singles positions, respectively.  Koziol defeated Elizabeth Hoo 6-4,6-3 and Iljima downed Leach 6-1,6-2. 
 
NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
With the win, the Generals improve to 9-0 overall on the season and Denison fell to 0-4 after taking three ranked losses at the W&L Invitational this weekend.

The Generals travel to California for a pair of non-conference matchups at No. 22 Redlands (February 28, 8 p.m. ET) and No. 21 CalTech (March 2, 2 p.m.ET).
