LEXINGTON, Va. – The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team opened their spring slate on Thursday with a sweat-free 9-0 sweep at home against Bridgewater.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (5-0, 4-0 ODAC) dropped just three games combined in doubles play, with a shutout win coming from sophomore
Annie Jennings and senior
Gabi Moss at No. 2. Senior
Izzy Koziol and first-year
Haley Stoltz teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1, while junior
Meagan Donovan and sophomore
Jordan Kach surrendered just one game at No. 3.
The Eagles (1-2, 0-1 ODAC) injury defaulted at No. 6 singles, with Jennings finishing first among the active singles matches to secure the win. Jennings dropped one game in the first set before cruising, 6-0, in the second. Stoltz matched Jennings' result at No. 3, while Koziol (4) and Moss (1) followed with 6-1, 6-1 wins apiece.
Kach closed out the 9-0 team shutout with a clean sheet of her own, downing Emma Staton, 6-0, 6-0.
