No. 25 Women’s Swimming Claims Randolph-Macon Invite Title

HAMPTON, Va. - The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee University women's swimming team secured the RMC Invitational Title on Sunday as they registered two first place finishes and five second place finishes.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White claimed the team title, recording 1,785.5 team points across the three day meet. Salisbury finished in second with 1,729.5 points while Randolph-Macon turned in a third place finish with 1,026. Catholic finished in fourth with 998 points while St. Mary's (Md.) rounded out the top five with 454 points.
  • The Blue and White clocked in two first place finishes during the third day of action. Celia Bredehoeft finished in first place in the 1,650 freestyle, posting a meet record and ODAC-best time of 17:34.38. Maria Jellig clocked in a time of 2:04.40 to finish in first in the 200 backstroke. Her prelims time of 2:04.08 is the fastest time in the conference this season.
  • Vivian Pickeral clocked in the second-best time in the ODAC this season in the 200 backstroke, finishing in second place with a time of 2:05.87. In the 100 freestyle, Myla Rice finished in second place with a time of 53.08s. Her time ranks first in the ODAC this season.
  • Morgan Smith competed in the 200 breaststroke, posting a time of 2:22.75 to finish in second place. Smith's time is the top mark in the ODAC this season by almost three seconds. Bella Tarbet rounded out the top finishers for the Blue and White, clocking in an ODAC-best time of 2:07.19 to finish in second place.
  • Rice, Faith Sconing, Marcy Mortimer and Tarbet teamed up in the 400 freestyle relay to cap off the meet. The squad clocked in a time of 3:33.73, the top mark in the conference this season, to finish in second place.
