No. 25 Women’s Swimming Leads After Day One of RMC Invite

HAMPTON, Va. - The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee University women's swimming team is sitting in first place after the first day of the Randolph-Macon Invitational. 

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White only won two of the five events today but hold an 81 point lead over Salisbury University (308.5). The host, Randolph-Macon, sits in third with 185 points, Catholic is in third with 165 points and St. Mary's College of Maryland rounds out the top-five with 126 points. 
  • Bella Tarbet, Myla Rice, Vivian Pickeral and Amelia Maloof kicked off the meet with an impressive showing in the 200 freestyle relay. The squad clocked in a time of 1:36.48 to finish in first place and secure 44 team points.
  • Faith Sconing, Tenra Adams, Keener Witmer and Grace Bentley clocked in a time of 1:38.16 in the 200 freestyle relay to finish in third place, registering 36 team points.
  • Tarbet, Rice, Pickeral and Morgan Smith secured the Blue and White's second first place finish of the day as they posted a time of 5:08.77 to secure gold and 44 team points in the 400 medley relay.
  • Isabella Malchow, Clara Attar, Paige McBoyle and Adams also teamed up in the 400 medley relay, finishing in third place with a time of 3:57.32.
  • Celia Bredehoeft was the Generals' top finisher in the 500 freestyle, turning in a second place finish with a time of 5:08.70.
  • Marcy Mortimer turned in a third place finish in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:10.04 to secure 18 team points. Tarbet clocked in a time of 24.32s to finish in third place in the 50 freestyle to round out the Generals' top three finishes.
