Women’s Swimming Dominates Southern Virginia, 169-78

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team defeated Southern Virginia University, 169-79, on Friday evening at the W&L Natatorium.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM MEET
  • The Generals (2-2) picked up their second win of the season and their second-straight win over the Knights.
  • Bella Tarbet had a hand in four wins for the Generals this evening, winning two solo and being a member of both winning relay teams. Tarbet clocked in a time of 24.79s to finish in first in the 50 freestyle before claiming a top finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.78s. Tarbet then teamed up with Myla Rice, Amelia Maloof and Tenra Adams in the 200 freestyle relay where the squad posted a winning time of 1:39.37. Vivian Pickeral, Clara Attar, Myla Rice and Tarbet rallied together to clock in a winning time of 1:50.70 in the 200 medley relay.
  • Rice also registered four wins for the Blue and White, claiming top finishes in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly while being a member of the 200 freestyle relay team and 200 medley relay teams. Rice clocked in a winning time of 1:00.80 in the backstroke before finishing in first in the butterfly with a time of 1:01.16.
  • Margaret Beimdiek claimed first place in the 1000 freestyle, clocking in a time of 11:42.14 before Celia Bredehoeft posted a winning time of 2:01.03 to finish in first in the 200 freestyle. Attar picked up a solo win in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:09.13.
  • Meagan Baxley clocked in the fastest time in the 200 butterfly, posting a time of 2:14.89 to finish in first place. Coco Proctor picked up her first win of the season in the 200 backstroke, clocking in a winning time of 2:14.32.
  • Annabel Symington clocked in a time of 2:41.58 to claim her first win of the season in the 200 breaststroke while Ruth Crane finished in first in the 500 freestyle, clocking in a time of 5:25.30. Morgan Smith picked up the final win of the evening for the Blue and White, finishing in first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:15.90.

  • Select individuals will travel to Chicago, Ill. for the University of Chicago Shoot Out on Nov. 8-9. The two-day meet will kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday while kicking off the final day of action on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
